The Wines of Britain and Ireland: A Guide to the Vineyards (Wine) by Stephen Skelton Price: £20.00 (available new from £20.00) Paperback, 272 pages, June 2001 Stephen Skelton is a well known commercial UK grower and president of the UK Vineyards Association. Unlike most others on this page, this book is written from a commercial growing perspective. For the amateur it contains a good description of vine varieties as well as vineyards.

Wines from Your Vines (An 'Amateur Winemaker' publication) by N. Poulter Price: £2.50 Paperback, 108 pages, June 1974 Similar in style to the above, but with obvious emphasis on wine making and just a single chapter with a few growing tips. Recommended.

The Ripening Sun: One Woman and the Creation of a Vineyard by Patricia Atkinson Price: £7.99 (available new from £2.99) Paperback, 320 pages, June 2004 This book describes one woman's experiences on taking over a vineyard in France. Gives a good insight onto vineyard management and problems - but it is a biography, not a textbook. Recommended.
Grapes (Aura Garden Handbooks) by Alan R. Toogood Price: £2.99 (available new from £9.99) Paperback, 48 pages, March 1988 A brief insight, not much depth. For the odd garden vine, not a vineyard.
