White grape varieties
![]() |
Here is an illustration of a row of mature Seyval Blanc vines being cropped at about 1 bottle per foot. |
The following table gives my experience of disease resistance. I initially chose Seyval Blanc because of its proven performance in the UK; it remains one of the best grapes for a new grower in the UK and possibly the very best. I have new plantings of Orion and Phoenix and will report my findings in due course.
Disease Resistance
| Variety | Powdery Mildew | Botrytis | Dead Arm |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orion | ? | ? | ? |
| Phoenix | ? | ? | ? |
| Seyval Blanc | Good | Susceptible | Not immune |
