White grape varieties

Seyval Blanc Here is an illustration of a row of mature Seyval Blanc vines being cropped at about 1 bottle per foot.

The following table gives my experience of disease resistance. I initially chose Seyval Blanc because of its proven performance in the UK; it remains one of the best grapes for a new grower in the UK and possibly the very best. I have new plantings of Orion and Phoenix and will report my findings in due course.

Disease Resistance

Variety Powdery Mildew Botrytis Dead Arm
Orion ? ? ?
Phoenix ? ? ?
Seyval Blanc Good Susceptible Not immune
